India’s largest independent MRO and aviation services major, Air Works has been awarded the  ‘Best MRO Achievement Award 2021’, at ASSOCHAM’s 13th Annual Conference cum Awards on Civil Aviation and Cargo held on 28th February 2022.

Jyotiraditya Scindia, Minister of Civil Aviation, Govt. of India, and Chief Guest at the event, presented the award to D Anand Bhaskar, Managing Director & CEO, Air Works Group, at a glittering ceremony in New Delhi yesterday.

ASSOCHAMs Annual Awards are a well-established and highly acclaimed industry platform that recognize the outstanding contribution and success of stakeholders in the Civil Aviation ecosystem. Given the pandemic led circumstances of the last couple of years, this year’s awards were especially significant as they highlighted the firm resolve of the Winners and the innovative ways in which they have been adapting to navigate the unprecedented challenges, to achieve organizational transformation and growth.

Speaking on the occasion, D Anand Bhaskar, MD & CEO, Air Works Group said, “I am honoured and humbled to accept this award. The Best MRO Achievement Award is an ideal tribute that acknowledges and  recognizes the efforts and initiative of every member of Air Works, who stepped forward and in fact, enhanced their commitment during the trying times, to preserve the Group’s purpose, culture, values, and  business ethos, not only ensuring its survival but even increasing Air Works’ relevance to our customers and  to the overarching aviation & aerospace industry.”

He further added, “Covid-19 tested our fundamentals of family values and relationships, innovation, and customer-centricity at numerous times and often, in extraordinary ways. However, our DNA of adaptability  and our enduring spirit of the last seven decades helped us prevail, making Air Works one of the few Indian  aviation & aerospace brands to be relevant today in India as well as the region.”

Notwithstanding the challenging period, Air Works notched up several successes in the past two years, that reflect its passion and commitment towards Indian aviation and aerospace. Appreciation of its outstanding workmanship helps the Company secure the lion’s share of maintenance contracts from customers, ensuring  100% capacity utilization. The Group also added new customers and expanded its defence and OEM relationships with Boeing, Embraer, Bell and Leonardo.

Most importantly, and contrary to prevailing business  logic, Air Works invested and expanded its maintenance facilities by a whopping 40%, adding a new, twin  hangar, narrow body facility at the Cochin International Airport and commissioning a dedicated hangar for its  Business Aviation customers at Hosur, Tamil Nadu, executing several industry-first and country-first projects.  The Group also accelerated its technology-led transformation, creating IPRs such as AWDi® (Air Works  Digital Info. Suite), AWtomateS® (Air Works Automation Suite) and AWCIM® (Air Works Customer  Information Management) as well as winnings awards for deploying new technologies such as RFID to innovate  and re-engineer its processes.

The Company also unveiled the industry’s first Business Analytics solution – mSights or Maintenance Insights – an intelligent tool that delivers significant operational efficiencies using insights gathered from a 360-degree view of maintenance operations/ projects via an interactive dashboard. mSights was recently recognized by  IDC at its Industry Innovation Awards as the winner in the Innovation in Data intelligence category.

ASSOCHAM’s 13th Annual Conference cum Awards event also received an enthusiastic response from the industry witnessing active participation from the industry’s who’s-who, especially since the event was organized as a completely physical one, after a gap of over two years. The event also recognized other performers with Awards in separate categories.
