The Prestigious Wings India 2022 kicked off at the Begumpet airport in Hyderabad, showcasing the Civil Aviation sector in India and the potential it holds to the largest aircraft manufacturers and companies from the civil aviation sector. The event jointly arranged by the Union Civil Aviation Ministry and FICCI showcases the Theme India@75: New Horizon for Aviation Industry.
The Wings India 2022 is the first mega aviation event in the country after Covid, and the event is expected to facilitate several Business to Business and Business to Government meetings.
The Wings India, which has been a biennial affair since 2008, will see various stakeholders get a glimpse of the changes in the aviation industry after Covid -19, which impacted the aviation sector badly due to the travel restrictions.
The 4-day conference cum exhibition got an exciting start with the Global giant Airbus showcasing its A350-900, a 410+ seater wide-bodied aircraft at the static display, while Embraer showcased its new offering E195- E2, a 146 seater aircraft in a bid to make an entry into Indian skies.
Airbus Industries, a key player in Indian skies, is optimistic about India and forecast that India will require over 2200 aircraft, including 440 wide-body craft, for the next ten years.
Airbus Brent Mc Bratney said, “India will be a Global leader with 6.2 percent growth until 2040. And has a lot of untapped potential.”
Minister of Civil Aviation, Jyotiraditya Scindia, will formally launch the event on Friday 25th March in the presence of a host of dignitaries including Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. The CEO Forum on Friday is the most awaited, where CEOs of top aviation companies are expected to participate in a roundtable conference to discuss civil aviation’s future.
Apart from the private sector, critical Indian states like Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat, which play a crucial role in the civil aviation and defence industries, are participating in a big way. Public sector majors like HAL, NAL, Pawan Hans and many others are showcasing the advancement of Make In India products like Advanced Light Helicopter- Civilian version, NAL- Saras Mk II, a 9-12 seater aircraft designed in India and NAL – Hansa, a basic trainer designed in India are also on display at the show.
For the casual visitors, The Sarang Aerobatic Team of the Indian Air Force, which has performed in over 0 countries, will show its flying display on all the days.
