India Pitching Tejas Mk-1A Fighters & ALHs To Argentina & Egypt

By Aritra Banerjee

India is in active talks with Argentina, Egypt, and the Philippines to sell 35 Tejas Mk-1A fighter jets and six Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH). The deal with Egypt involves establishing a Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility.

During the Aero India 2023, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh underscored India’s commitment to a rules-based international order and emphasised the need for collective security to promote development and prosperity.

Singh also stressed the importance of developing new strategies to combat terrorism, illegal arms trade, drug smuggling, and human trafficking and highlighted India’s approach to capacity building and respect for national values when assisting.

India aims to boost its defence exports to $5 billion by 2024-25, with a focus on exporting indigenous air platforms such as the LCA-Tejas, HTT-40, Dorniers, Light Utility Helicopter (LUH), Light Combat Helicopter (LCH), and ALH and is currently engaging in negotiations with Argentina, Egypt, and the Philippines to explore potential deals.
