ST Engineering and Vaayu Group have signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to provide ST Engineering’s innovative cabin interior solution, ACCESS. Vaayu Group will be the launch customer for the expandable cabin lavatory solution, with ST Engineering providing 20 units of ACCESS for installation on Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 aircraft.
ACCESS is the world’s first lavatory solution for narrowbody aircraft that can be expanded to create 40 percent more space. The extra space will help make the lavatory more accessible to passengers with reduced mobility and their assistants, improving their experience and safety.
In addition, ACCESS has been designed to minimise retrofitting costs for operators. It can accommodate existing structural attachment points and electrical and system connections, making installation possible without altering the cabin layout or reducing galley space and seating capacity.
“We believe ACCESS will change the dynamics of the sector considering the projected growth in the number of passengers with reduced mobility due to change of demographics of air travel,” said Emad AlMonayea, Chairman and President of Vaayu Group. “As an entrepreneurial organisation, Vaayu must not only grow faster but also have to visualise the future of our businesses quicker than most.”
ST Engineering is a global technology, defence and engineering group with operations spanning Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the U.S., serving customers in over 100 countries. It reported revenue of $9 billion in FY2022 and is among the largest companies listed on the Singapore Exchange.
Vaayu Group was established in 2011 in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, focusing on rethinking solutions for challenges within the aviation industry. Its global businesses now span large swathes of the aviation industry under a competent and professional team.
“We are thrilled to work with Vaayu as our launch customer for ACCESS,” said Ms Ling Meng Geah, Director Program Office, Cabin Interiors, and Engineering Solutions at ST Engineering. “Through this partnership, we are a step closer to fulfilling our commitment in pioneering and delivering cabin solutions that revolutionise the air travel experience.”
