In a sustained effort towards collaboration, a joint India-UK workshop took place in New Delhi, focused on the technicalities of electric propulsion in naval systems. The event, held on 3 July 2023, was seen as a testament to both nations’ shared commitment to bolstering defence ties and exploring the possibilities of joint research, technology transfer, and strategic partnerships.
The day-long event, titled the India-UK Electric Propulsion Technical Workshop, was aimed at fostering the exchange of knowledge and opening up avenues for future collaboration in the rapidly evolving field of electric propulsion.
Chairing the event were Rajeev Prakash, Joint Secretary (Naval Systems) from the Indian side, and Commodore John Voyce, Naval Base Commander Portsmouth, from the UK side, laying emphasis on the symmetrical commitment of both nations to this crucial technology frontier.
The workshop provided a platform for defence experts, researchers, and industry professionals from both nations to unite, share insights, and engage in substantive discussions concerning developing electric propulsion for ships.
