By Staff Correspondent

Gen. (Dr.) V. K. Singh (Retd.), Hon’ble Minister of State, Ministry of Civil Aviation graced the second edition of IndiAirport: International Expo & Conference organized by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI). The three-day event took place in Sector 25, Dwarka, New Delhi, at the India International Convention & Expo Centre (IICC).
The Hon’ble Minister of State for the Ministry of Civil Aviation addressed the conference explaining the government’s active efforts to foster an environment that would support the expansion of the aviation sector.
“We are focused on providing excellent facilities for both the industry, which forms a crucial part of our ecosystem and the passengers,” he said. We have expanded the number of airports during the last nine years, from 74 in 2014 to 148 currently. Our goal is to maintain this growth while creating chances for businesses to enter this market.
Even though there is currently a surge in passenger traffic, he continued, “Our further efforts include liberalizing flight training institutions and supporting aviation companies through the UDAN scheme and assisting them in recovering from COVID-related losses.” The UDAN scheme also aims to target smaller aircraft catering to 20–80 capacity, with the goal of connecting more regions and creating new domestic hubs.
The Hon’ble Minister emphasized on active exploration of the use of sustainable fuels while ensuring profitability in reference to the sustainability strategy. Given the encouraging results of recent trials with biofuel blends, efforts to create additional biofuel hubs are underway.

“To evaluate the business environment within any organization, the PESTLE framework (Political, Economic, Sociological, Technological, Legal and Environmental) serves as a comprehensive formula for assessing growth,” stated Dr. Ranjeet Mehta, Executive Director, PHDCCI, during his welcome address. Considerable development is shown for India in relation to these factors. India’s economy is expanding at the quickest rate in the world because to its stable and solid governmental structure. Both countries have performed admirably in the field of technology. He said, “Programmes like the UDAN scheme create new opportunities for investors, promoting business expansion and enhancing India’s standing as a desirable location for opportunities.”
Mr. Sanjeev Edward, Chair, Civil Aviation Committee, PHDCCI mentioned that with the dedicated assistance of the Aviation Ministry and the Union government, the aviation industry has witnessed tremendous expansion, which is an essential aspect of growth. The allotment of 30,000 crores specifically for the purpose of establishing new environmentally friendly airports highlights the will of the Indian government, spearheaded by the ministry, to tackle supply chain obstructions. The goal of this large investment is to support the industry’s overall growth by modernising and expanding existing terminals as well as developing new ones.
More than 200 business people attended the meeting, which was supported by PowerGilt Treasury. Prominent figures from the aviation sector graced the sessions, which featured in-depth conversations on a range of subjects. Over a thousand individuals visited the show.
