By Staff Correspondent

At the highly esteemed ‘CH -Aviation Youngest Aircraft Fleet Awards 2024,’ India’s premier full-service airline Vistara was honoured with two prestigious titles: “Ch-Aviation World’s 4th Youngest Aircraft Fleet Award 2024” and “CH-Aviation Asia’s 2nd Youngest Aircraft Fleet Award 2024.”

It is worth mentioning that Vistara has been acknowledged for two years running for having the third-youngest fleet of aircraft in Asia. CH-Aviation, a research and intelligence firm located in Switzerland, has extensive databases on aircraft and their owners and operators from all around the world. These records are used to calculate these prizes.

Vistara CEO Mr Vinod Kannan expressed his joy at the company’s achievement at the CH-Aviation Youngest Aircraft Fleet Awards 2024, where it placed second in Asia and made history by breaking into the world’s top five. Their presence is a testament to our unwavering commitment to preserving a youthful and contemporary fleet in our quest to reduce CO₂ emissions. We are grateful to Ch-Aviation for acknowledging our work.

According to CH-CEO Jaeger’s statement, “CH-aviation established the Youngest Aircraft Fleet Award to revere airlines worldwide who understand the value and necessity of investing in their fleets, introducing new-generation aircraft that considerably reduce CO2 emissions in the aviation industry and improve fuel economy.” When it comes to sustainability, the aviation sector will still need to make huge strides forward. As a result, CH-Aviation has chosen to recognize their contributions with this award. It must be stressed that this Award is based only on fleet statistics that cannot be altered.

The current fleet of Vistara includes B787-9 Dreamliners, A320NEOs, and A321NEOs, with an average age of 2.94 years. These planes are equipped with state-of-the-art systems and technology that reduce engine noise and emissions of carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxide.

Vistara reduced 150,000 pounds of CO2 emissions in March 2023 by running a wide-body aircraft on a long-haul international journey using a 30% SAF mix. This was a significant milestone for the company. In addition to this groundbreaking achievement, Vistara also conducted a commercial domestic flight on a wide-body aircraft utilizing SAF. About 10,000 pounds of CO₂ were saved on this flight since it used a mixture of 17% SAF and 83% regular jet fuel. Additionally, Vistara was the pioneering Indian airline to use Aerowash, a system that automatically washes and cleans the outside of aircraft. To further optimize flight planning and operations, Vistara used SITA OptiClimb® and SITA eWAS in an effort to reduce carbon emissions by 15,000 tonnes per year.
