The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has approved the H160 helicopter from Airbus, which is a major step towards the rotorcraft’s debut in the Indian market. India has great potential for its small fleet to expand because to the country’s increasing demand for better connectivity, making it an attractive market for helicopters. Helicopters will be an integral part of India’s economic growth and nation-building in many ways, including commercial passenger transport, offshore flying for the oil industry, emergency medical services, and emerging markets like aerial law enforcement and aerial activities.
The DGCA’s type approval for the H160 is much appreciated. This opens the door for the prospect of deploying the most cutting-edge helicopter in the world for a variety of tasks when it has been introduced to a business client in India. According to Sunny Guglani, Head of Airbus Helicopters, Airbus India and South Asia, “Airbus Helicopters is committed to developing a holistic helicopter ecosystem in India.” This includes bringing the most advanced helicopter platforms to India, developing local MRO capabilities, and, as announced in January of this year, starting to produce helicopters in India.
When it comes to helicopters, the H160 is among the most technologically sophisticated on the planet. Its design and construction prioritise operational safety and provide the most comfortable ride of any helicopter in its class. Offshore transportation, emergency medical care, private and commercial aviation, and public services are just a few of the many missions that this multi-role helicopter can do. The H160 has a history of certification from both the FAA and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
