Inauguration of HaveUs AeroTech’s MRO Spares Warehouse in Bengaluru

By Staff Correspondent

In a significant development for the aviation maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) sector in India, HaveUs AeroTech has inaugurated a state-of-the-art 70,000-square-foot MRO spare warehouse facility in Bengaluru. This pioneering initiative marks a substantial advancement in the country’s capabilities to support the aviation industry, particularly in terms of enhancing the efficiency and reliability of aircraft maintenance operations.

Located strategically about six kilometers from the Bengaluru International Airport in Devanahalli, the new facility is designed to address the pressing needs of airlines operating in the region. With the capacity to store thousands of engineering spares and components, including aircraft engines and radomes, the warehouse is poised to significantly reduce the turnaround time (TAT) for airlines. Anshul Bhargava, the Managing Director of HaveUs AeroTech India Limited, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “Today a part of my dream has come true. I have always dreamt of a self-reliant India in terms of MRO.” This sentiment encapsulates the broader vision of fostering self-sufficiency within the Indian aerospace sector.

The operational model of the new warehouse is designed to ensure seamless logistics support for airlines. The facility will operate 24/7, utilizing air suspension trucks to facilitate the swift transportation of aircraft engines and other critical components between the airport and the warehouse. This logistical efficiency is essential in mitigating the risks associated with aircraft on-ground (AOG) situations, which can arise due to the unavailability of necessary spares. By establishing this facility, HaveUs AeroTech aims to provide a comprehensive solution for storing a wide array of aircraft spares, tools, and ground support equipment, ranging from wheels and brakes to complex avionics and hydraulic systems.

Bengaluru’s emergence as a major aerospace and MRO hub in India has been a pivotal factor in the decision to locate the warehouse in this city. With numerous domestic and international airlines, including Air India, IndiGo, and British Airways, operating from Bengaluru, the demand for efficient MRO services is rapidly increasing. As Bhargava noted, “At this pace, the instances of AOG due to the want of spares is most likely to occur at the base station, leading to the need for more such warehouses in and around the airport vicinity.” This foresight underscores the strategic importance of the new facility in supporting the growing aviation market.

Furthermore, the environmental considerations associated with the storage of aircraft components cannot be overlooked. HR Jagannath, Technical Director of HaveUs AeroTech, emphasized the significance of maintaining an environmentally controlled warehouse, particularly in India’s hot and humid climate. “To fulfill this critical need, HaveUs has earmarked lots of resources to build world-class warehouses,” he stated. This commitment to preserving the integrity of aircraft components is essential for prolonging their lifespan and ensuring the safety and reliability of aircraft operations.

The inauguration of the MRO spares warehouse is not merely a localized achievement; it is part of a broader expansion strategy by HaveUs AeroTech, which includes plans to establish similar facilities in other major metros such as Delhi and Mumbai. This expansion is driven by the rising global supply chain challenges and the increasing demand for MRO services in India. The company’s proactive approach reflects an understanding of the evolving landscape of the aviation industry and the necessity for robust infrastructure to support its growth.

The launch of HaveUs AeroTech’s MRO spares warehouse in Bengaluru represents a significant milestone in India’s aviation sector. By enhancing the capacity for aircraft maintenance and repair, this facility not only addresses immediate logistical challenges but also contributes to the long-term vision of a self-reliant and efficient aviation ecosystem in the country. As Bengaluru solidifies its position as a premier aviation hub, initiatives such as this will play a crucial role in supporting the burgeoning demands of the industry and ensuring its sustainable growth.
