A large-scale contract has been signed between The Airports Authority Of India (AAI) and Russia’s Scientific And Production Corporation “Radio Technical System” (NPO “RTS”) for the supply of radio equipment.
For the modernisation of 24 airports in the country, the Russian company is ready to manufacture about 34 sets of instrument landing systems ILS 734.
According to an official statement, the right to conclude a contract was received by the domestic manufacturer, based on the results of a global tender where, in addition to the NPO “RTS” the world’s largest supplier of radio to part.
Due to the scale of the project, the interest of leading producers in the competition has increased. The lot for the purchase of landing systems has turned out to be the biggest in the world over the past few years.
The first part of the landing systems ILS 734 is planned to be shipped before November of the current year, according to the contract. However, payments for this transaction shall be carried out in the national currency itself.
With a runway visual range of minimum 50 m, the particular system allows for the landing of equipped aircraft and also provides a decision height of a minimum of 15 m. For the stability and reliability of the output parameters of the equipment, the landing system is subject to increased requirements.
A group of developers of Air traffic control system, landing and navigation equipment had established the Scientific And Production Corporation “Radio Technical Systems” (NPO “RTS”) back in May 2003.
Denis Alipov, Ambassador of Russia to India said “The contract between NPO “RTS” and AAI has become a breakthrough for Russian business in the highly competitive market of ground-based radio equipment in India. There is no doubt that the successful execution of the contract will open up new opportunities for the implementation of joint projects to modernize Indian airport infrastructure.”
