Tackling Emerging Trends In MRO Industry

Aviation industry luminaries from both civil and defence sectors convened at the Indian Aviation Academy for the 2nd International Conference on Emerging Trends in Aviation MRO Industry [EAMRO 2023]. The conference, which was orchestrated by the Aviakul Group of Companies, aimed to discuss the most recent trends in the industry, including the convergence of civil and defence in MRO, digitisation of MRO, and obstacles to implementing cutting-edge solutions.

The opening ceremony was graced by Lieutenant General Ajay Kumar Suri, Director General & Colonel Commandant, Army Aviation, who presided over the event as the Chief Guest. Air Marshal Sukhchain Singh, former Air Officer in Charge Maintenance, Indian Air Force; R. P. Kashyap, Director Operations, Directorate General of Civil Aviation & Indian Aviation Academy; and Vaibhav Varun, Managing Director, Aviakul Group of Companies, was among the key speakers who addressed the gathering.

The conference’s highlight was a panel discussion on the convergence of civil and defence applications in the MRO industry. Industry stalwarts such as Air Marshal Sukhchain Singh, Rear Admiral Mukul Asthana, Lt. Gen. Dharam Vir Kalra, and Anirrban Batacharrya participated in the discussion. The panel delved into the challenges and bottlenecks of achieving the desired convergence and how all stakeholders could work together to make India a global MRO hub in the near future.

Dr Harpreet A de Singh, Executive Director, Air India Limited, delivered a keynote lecture on Women in Aviation, emphasising the need to alter societal mindsets to encourage women to pursue aviation-related career paths. The conference also included a panel discussion on digital MRO, emphasising the need for grassroots skill training.

The event concluded with a panel discussion on challenges in implementing new-age MRO solutions, where industry experts such as Ajay Kumar, Maniraj Rajagopalan, Group Captain Sanjay Shah and Vinod Kumar Shukla interacted with the audience and discussed the industry’s day-to-day problems.

The conference was a resounding success, with over 300 participants, including industry experts, Indian Armed Forces veterans, diplomats, bureaucrats, aviation professionals, aviation enthusiasts, and faculty and students from science and technology backgrounds. The event was well-received among the participants, setting the bar high for the next edition of the Global Sustainable Aviation Conclave – Chapter 2, scheduled for October 2023 in New Delhi, orchestrated by the Aviakul Group of Companies.
