Indian consumer technology firm, udChalo, has introduced a pioneering initiative, ‘Suraksha 2.0′, which provides financial protection for air travellers against unexpected disruptions to their travel schedules. The scheme is a global first and assures a full ticket refund in case of any airline-caused disruptions, including events such as airline bankruptcy. In addition, it offers refunds for disruptions due to factors such as travel uncertainty, adverse weather conditions, hospitalisation, ailments, and injuries, with particular relevance to the armed forces’ lifestyle.
In the past decade, India has witnessed more than 10 airlines being grounded due to various reasons, including financial instability. Large carriers such as Jet Airways and Go First have filed for bankruptcy overnight, leading to significant losses for passengers who had invested their hard-earned money in air travel. This has resulted in a loss of passenger trust. udChalo’s Suraksha initiative aims to safeguard passengers from such delinquency by providing financial protection.
According to udChalo’s founder and CEO, Mr. Ravi Kumar, “At udChalo, we understand that air travel can be a challenging experience for passengers due to the increasing unpredictability of airlines. Our goal is to provide the best possible service to our customers and ensure they are protected from any financial losses or mental anxiety, regardless of any situation that affects their travel schedule.” Mr. Kumar further added, “With ‘Suraksha 2.0’, our customers can travel worry-free, knowing they are protected against any airline delinquency and unforeseen circumstances.”
During the Jet Airways crisis in 2019, udChalo refunded 100% of the money to its customers. In response to the Jet Airways situation, udChalo introduced Suraksha to safeguard the interests of travelers. The new Suraksha 2.0 builds on this foundation by providing ironclad financial protection for all air travelers, ensuring a stress-free and protected air travel experience.
The Suraksha scheme is applicable to anyone who has made a booking through the udChalo website, app, m-site, booking office, or franchise partner. udChalo is a leading consumer technology company for the Indian Armed Forces, Paramilitary Forces, and their dependents, offering travel, financial services, group housing, consumer electronics, and utility bill payments.
The company began its operations in 2012 and has recorded a compound annual growth rate of over 450% in the last five years. udChalo is registered under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and holds an ERI License from the Department of Income Tax and an OTA license from the Ministry of Tourism. It has also been recognized by the Guinness World Records for participation in two record-breaking cycling events and certified as a Great Place to Work for three consecutive years.
